Our Instructors and Guides
Aarohi
(she/her)
ACMG Top Rope Climbing Instructor
________
Aarohi is a Registered Dietitian and a Top Rope Climbing Instructor (TRCI). Originally from Ontario, she comes to climbing for the experience rather than the grade - drawn to the feeling of being on the rock, moving, and having fun.
For her, climbing often feels like a kind of therapy in motion, where fear and uncertainty show up in real time. But she also holds space for the other side of it - the parts that are light, playful, and not meant to be taken too seriously. She believes in safety as more than just the physical, including mental and emotional safety, and values spaces like BIPOC Rocks that create belonging, support, and community in climbing.
Auston
(he/him)
ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide
________
Auston is a salmon biologist and ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide with a passion for teaching. He gets as much enjoyment out of sharing his knowledge of technical skills as he does figuring out a crux sequence on a hard route.
Auston believes that anyone should feel like they can call themselves a "climber", and hopes he can play a role in lifting underrepresented communities up in outdoor spaces.
Cyrus
(he/him)
ACMG Top Rope Climbing Instructor
________
For Cyrus, climbing is more than a sport—it’s a lens through which we view our relationship with nature. Since his first climb in 2011, he has been driven by the dual joys of movement and conservation. In 2018, he left a comfortable desk job to pursue this passion full-time, gaining years of hands-on experience in Hong Kong’s climbing gyms and coaching programs.
Now a graduate of Thompson Rivers University's Adventure Guide program, Cyrus is dedicated to professional excellence as he pursues his ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide certification. He believes that by introducing others to the heights, he can help them discover the same drive to protect and cherish our wild spaces.
Janet
(they/them)
ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide
ACMG Top Rope Climbing Instructor
________
Known for tooling around on rock upside down as well as climbing remote icefalls, Janet loves to share their passion for mountain adventures with folks and facilitate spaces that are welcoming, inclusive and elevating.
They believe that how you relate to yourself and to each other is just as important as considering the elements and the mountain! They are a queer, non-binary ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide as well as an Avalanche Educator.
Janet also loves ski touring, reading poetry, and snacking on chocolate chip cookies.
Julia
(she/her)
AMGA Single Pitch Instructor
ACMG Top Rope Climbing Instructor
ACMG Climbing Gym Instructor I
________
Julia is a Squamish-based climber who became passionate about rock climbing in her mid-40's. She gravitates toward chill trad multipitch routes, where steady movement, beautiful vistas, and time away from the din of civilization matter more than grades. She values climbing as a practice of presence, self discovery, and quiet perseverance.
Julia does enjoy a sport route now and then, and is quietly committed to normalizing wearing helmets while bouldering.
Laurie-Ann
(she/her)
ACMG Top Rope Climbing Instructor
ACMG Climbing Gym Instructor I
________
Laurie-Ann has spent over a decade in the climbing world, training lead instructors, coaching adult and high-performance youth climbers, route setting, and helping hundreds of people dial in their climbing shoes and gear, with a strong foundation in gear knowledge from past work with industry reps.
As a first-generation Canadian with lived experience and a neurodivergent perspective, she cares deeply about building inclusive, people-centered climbing spaces. She believes the best climbing happens when people feel supported and safe enough to explore their edges together.
She’s currently completing a Master’s in Education in Counselling—and when she’s not climbing, she’s pressing flowers, walking dogs, or propagating houseplants.
Terry
(he/him)
ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide
ACMG Top Rope Climbing Instructor
________
Terry is an avid rock climber and guide who found his way back to the vertical world after leaving a previous career in real estate development. He is drawn to problems that require precision, commitment, and just enough fear to stay focused. Climbing and its community reconnected him with what he values most: challenge, humility, growth, presence, and genuine human connection.
While Terry does love a well-designed spreadsheet, he loves a good adventure on multipitch even more. He enjoys the sense of adventure, commitment, self-reliance, and the sweeping scenery shared with a partner.
