Our Mentors
Jenn
(they/them)
________
Jenn loves rocks of all shapes and sizes. They have bouldered, cragged, and multipitched around the world and are known for bringing stoke and snacks. Passionate about accessibility and inclusion, Jenn thrives at getting to know people and supporting them in their goals.
Kushwant
(he/him)
________
Kushwant (he/him) started climbing in 2013 while searching for an activity in the hot days living in Montreal while waiting for the snow to fall. He discovered Squamish on a little solo trip in 2018 and moved permanently in 2019. Kushwant feels he’s been lucky to have had mentors throughout his journey who taught him outdoor etiquette, movement, route development and most of all, to have fun safely on rocks. He is currently an Associate of the Squamish Access Society (SAS) board, a volunteer with the Outreach Program at Squamish Search and Rescue (SSAR).
His approach to mentorship has always been one of 'push yourself to the brink of fun, then perform in that space'.
Marianne
(she/they)
________
Marianne discovered the outdoors during university and has been passionate about opening that door for others ever since. Her approach to mentorship is grounded in adaptability—meeting people where they are, honoring different learning styles, and seeing both who someone is today and who they could become. Beyond sharing knowledge, Marianne believes the best mentoring relationships are reciprocal, where both sides grow.
She is deeply committed to building a climbing community that is inclusive, values-driven, and diverse—one that makes the sport safer, more joyful, and more welcoming for everyone.
Alex
(they/them)
________
Alex is self professed geek in every part of their life—including climbing. They love climbing at every grade, and are especially drawn to trad, crack, and multipitch routes because placing gear feels like solving a puzzle on the wall. Alex genuinely loves belaying (yes, really!) and find deep joy in watching others climb. Their climbing has been supported by queer and BIPOC communities every step of the way, and Alex is excited to give back and help others take up space.
Jaime
(she/her)
________
Jaime is a multi-faceted yoga teacher and adventure guide with a vision to empower folks to reconnect to their body through mindfulness practices in rock climbing. She believes that everyone belongs in the outdoors and representation matters both ways. If we open our arms with compassion, we could created more space for a more equitable climbing community-for marginalized folks to be seen and to decolonize the traditional outdoor demographic.
Karlo
(he/him)
________
Karlo has been climbing and working in the industry for over a decade. He grew up in Guelph, Ontario and moved to Squamish in 2022, where he’s been primarily focused on outdoor bouldering. Karlo works as a route setter at Ground Up and is always phyched to share the stoke and help new climbers explore movement on the wall.
Manny
(he/him)
________
Manny is a boulderer with 7+ years on the rock, known for bringing high energy, loud cheers, and steady support to every session. Passionate about introducing new climbers to the outdoors, he breaks down beta in a way that clicks while building confidence. Showing up authentically in spaces that don’t always reflect him, he’s committed to Leave No Trace ethics and preserving access.
