From Connection to Care: A Land Stewardship Workshop
September 2026
_______________
We gathered with our community at Smoke Bluffs Park for a three-hour workshop led by educator, naturalist, and mycologist Willoughby Arévalo.
We slowed down, observed the plants and fungi around us, learned about the ecological relationships that shape this landscape, and reflected on the histories of this place. For us, connection to the places where we climb is the beginning of care.

BIPOC Rocks × Progression Bouldering Gym: Indoor Workshop + Climb Series
BIPOC Rocks partnered with Progression Bouldering Gym in Vancouver to run a four-part workshop series designed by and for the BIPOC climbing community. Each session paired a guided workshop with open climbing time, and all experience levels were welcome.
Sessions:
January 31, 2026: Movement & Technique (with Marianne & Terry)
February 28, 2026: How to Warm Up Effectively (with Marianne & Terry)
March 28, 2026: Climbing Photography (with Karlo, Marianne & Sharan)
April 25, 2026: Mindfulness for Climbers (with Jaime)
Cost: $20 per session (workshop + climbing included); free for Progression members and pass holders.
The series centered on community as much as skill-building, a space to move, learn, laugh, and climb together.
If you have an idea for a course or event that will support you in your climbing journey, reach out - we'd love to hear about it!
